Born in the Netherlands, I initially completed my degrees as a cancer researcher. I then moved to Australia, where I trained as a gastroenterologist. I moved my wife and two children to New Zealand to perform advanced interventional endoscopy. This work is very satisfying to me as I can have a big impact on the heath outcomes of my patients.

I am passionate about education outside my work as well. For the last 3 years I have run the "spaceteddy" project at Forrest Hill primary school. By sending a teddy bear into near space, the children learn about science, environment as well as computer programming.

Dear Reader I have had experience of my stomach chronic infection by HP. My GP has not give me treatment after I have done gastroscopy while I have moderate symptoms. I have been consulted by Marius for the last 6 months. My experience with Marius has been really positive - I have found that he has multiple options of treatment available and communicates these clearly. Consultation responses, prescriptions and general concerns have all been addressed and answered really quickly which is much appreciated and alleviates a lot of the stress!
